IT Support Engineer
This position requires a dedicated person who can work on their own initiative. The ideal candidate will have an active interest and ambition to work in the IT industry. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required and previous experience working in a client facing role is desirable.
The candidate will be responsible for supporting and maintaining Microsoft Server, Linux, Unix and Desktop operating systems and Microsoft Exchange environment plus general maintenance of all IT-related hardware/software.
A full driving license is necessary. Access to a car, while desirable, is not essential.
The successful candidate will benefit from exposure to a broad range of IT-related projects and activities including dedicated time for research and self-selected projects.
Candidates should have some previous experience/knowledge of the following:
*Setting up and configuring new core servers
*Fault finding to core servers
*Fixing and finding security flaws
*Diagnosing and resolving technical issues
*Providing desktop and server support
*Supporting and maintaining MS Server/Desktops and MS Exchange, Google apps
*Setting up and configuring new laptops and desktops
*Installing authorised software to laptops and desktops
*Ensuring security and upgrades are applied to desktops and laptops and are kept up to date
*Fixing faults and maintaining logs on servers, desktops and laptops
*Patching of network and phones
*Ensuring all logs for equipment and users are maintained
*Ensuring patches and upgrades are applied to core servers
*Creating purchase requisitions for IT hardware/software
*Ensuring licensing for all software purchased is recorded and maintained
*Setting up new users and disabling expired accounts in accordance with HR requirements
*Providing support for MAC PCs
